The new 6.6-liter Duramax turbo diesel V8 engine comes mated to an Allison six-speed automatic transmission and churns out a massive 910 lb-ft of torque. That power creates opportunity when it comes to towing capacity and the Sierra 3500HD delivers with up to 22,900 pounds when properly equipped.
Even though the new turbo diesel V8 engine delivers more power and torque than its predecessor, the engine still produces 35% fewer emissions. Keep in mind that diesel engines are already some of the most efficient powertrains on the road, and this one is clearly no different.
