It’s almost here, the season that we’ve all been yearning for: Spring! And with this new season comes the ever-popular spring break journey – so here are some road trip driving tips.
Before you leave:
Make sure you have all needed documentation with you such as: drivers license, proof of car insurance, and vehicle registration.
Take your car into the shop for routine maintenance. A qualified technician can de-winterize your vehicle by checking your tire tread/inflation, fluids, oil, engine, and brakes.
Make sure you are well rested. Studies have shown that driving while fatigued can be just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. If you are feeling tired, pass driving responsibilities on to someone else if able. Also be sure to take plenty of breaks along your journey to stretch out your legs and regain travel momentum.
Stay on well-traveled roads. Not only is this for safety purposes, but also it is easier for rescue vehicles to reach you if assistance if needed.
Drive safely. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is wearing their seatbelts and never check text messages or answer phone calls while driving.

Early projections say that Chrysler lead the automotive industry in a stellar year for sales, leading auto companies as 2014’s best-seller. In fact, Chrysler estimated Chrysler sales went up more than 2 million units for the full year, growing more than 16% since 2013.
Demand for the auto company’s Jeep Cherokee and Ram pickups are being held responsible for much of the groundbreaking sales numbers, though most of Chrysler’s numbers increased across the board.
“Low gas prices, a record stock market and the improving economy are making people feel more financially comfortable, and even the weather” are being attributed to such a high-selling year for cars, according to an Edmunds.com analyst.
Other companies, like Toyota, have seen increases in sales this year, though their numbers don’t match Chrysler’s. Another successful company this year was Ford, whose sales will likely change radically as the new 2015 F-150 models hit dealerships.

The Chrysler Group is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Detroit Autorama High School Design Competition. This is a competition with huge stakes that fosters artistry and ambition amongst the youth of America.
The competition is for US public high school students in grades 10-12. Their mission, if they choose to accept it, is very open-minded and leaves immense room for creativity. The goal is to “design a next-generation Dodge brand vehicle for the year 2025, and include a 500-word essay explaining what the Dodge brand means to them,” according to The Auto Channel.
First place will receive a $60,000 scholarship to the College For Creative Studies as well as a Macbook Pro. “The purpose of this competition is to expose students early in their education to the possibility of a career in automotive design while allowing us to connect with young talent and help to develop their artistic skills,” said Mark Trostle, Head of SRT, Mopar and Motorsports Design, Chrysler Group LLC.

If you caught the American Music Awards, you may have noticed, along with us at Warsaw CDJR, that Chrysler has got great taste in music. The automaker matched up five very talented artists from Interscope Records with five vehicles from its multi-brand lineup for what amounted to a marketing bombardment of the AMA TV audience.
Marissa Hunter, director-global brand advertising and head of Ram Truck brand advertising, explained to Ad Age just how Chrysler went about deciding which artist would represent which ride in the Chrysler music ads…
Gwen Stefani got the Fiat 500L. Both are “fun, young and fashionable.” Plus, she has an Italian last name.
Phillip Phillips had the pleasure of driving a Ram 1500. Chrysler felt that the up-and-coming bard had a “a strong familiarity with the American heartland” that went well with the truck’s image.
The Imagine Dragons song “I Bet My Life” contained themes of “adventure and taking risks,” which dovetailed with the image of Jeep.
Keys to the Chrysler 200 went to Fergie. She’s “young, energetic and stylish,” much like the sedan with which she shared screen time.
And naturally, Eminem was left to promote the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. Chrysler felt that a performance vehicle could best symbolize the themes from Eminem’s hit tune, “Guts Over Fear.”
As Chrysler Group’s North American facilities continue to adopt the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology to strive for a more efficient and safer workplace, we continue to celebrate as individual plants are awarded for their successful implementation of the system. The Kokomo Transmission Plant (KTP) is the most recent to be awarded with the WCM bronze status for its efforts.
The plant received the distinction after a two-day audit, which took place earlier this month, when it received a score of 51. It is the eighth North American facility to be distinguished with the status.
Discussing the preparations for KTP’s launch of all-new eight- and nine-speed transmissions, vice president and head of NAFTA Manufacturing for Chrysler Group Brian Barlow said, “Through it all, the KTP employees remained focused on implementing World Class Manufacturing and have been acknowledged for those efforts today with the awarding of bronze.”
Concerning the WCM Bronze Status for Chrysler’s transmission plant, Barlow continued, “We are proud of the commitment demonstrated by our employees and the support received from the UAW, which has been critical in making Chrysler Group’s manufacturing facilities among the best in the world.”

Diesel engines aren’t anything new here in the US. Powerful trucks from Ford, Chrysler, and GM have long offered powerful diesel engines in their full-size trucks. So what about Chrysler’s 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 is so different, even cutting edge, in the world of diesel technology?
To put it simply, the Chrysler 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 is its size and the wide variety of vehicles that can put it to use. As far as displacement goes, it’s the smallest engine currently offered in a large pickup in the US. Know what’s even better? For 2014 and 2015, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 will be available in the Ram 1500 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6’s small size is no indication of its power, and while the 240 hp it gives may not be anything to write home about, the 420 lb-ft of torque it puts out more than makes up for that. In fact, according to autoblog.com, the torque rating is even more than the beastly 5.7-liter Hemi muster up.
Besides being super powerful and lightweight, it may be the fuel economy that most people will be excited about. Though the EcoDiesel engine will cost you a bit more at the time of purchase, it is estimated that in less than three years, your savings at the pump will offset the diesel engine’s cost. The more you drive, and the longer you keep you 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6-equipped vehicle, the better its payoff will be.

When people think of the future of cars, they usually think of the up-and-coming generations.
Not Chrysler’s Ralph Gilles. In his presentation at the SAE 2014 Convergence, Gilles called for engineers and designers to pay more attention to the baby boomer car choices, and their section of the car buying market.
Millenials might be the future, but when it comes to the present, they don’t have the cash to invest in brand new, innovative cars. It’s the pre-1980’s crowd that are going to be the big buyers in the new car market, so industry executives can’t forget them in their planning.
According to Gilles, new assistive technology is really the key to helping the older crowd continue to buy cars and drive them safely into their later years. While things like lane departure warnings are helpful to everyone, they are especially useful for the 65 and over crowd.
“I think that’s the beauty of what we can do for this generation, is to give them their mobility back,” Gilles said. “And they love technology. All of them are Facebookers, all of them want to be connected. They just want (technology) to be intuitive.”

Chrysler announced that the new 2015 Chrysler 300 will premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, and we here at Warsaw Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram couldn’t be more excited. If it’s anything like the 2014 model, it should be a showstopper.
The LA Auto Show will begin November 18th, and will be open to the public on November 21st. According to Allpar, engine options for the 2015 Chrysler 300 will most likely be a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and an optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8, both mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2015 Chrysler 300 is also likely to receive new features such as the UConnect 2, customizable seats and gauges, and advanced parking and safety systems like those seen on the Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee.
Perhaps the most exciting changes to the new 300 will be on the exterior, which recently-released photos reveal will have subtle but gorgeous changes. This includes a newly designed grille, small changes to the rear body, and a stylistic exhaust.
With the all-new Chrysler 200 making waves in the mid-size car segment and the 300 getting ready for a refresh, the Chrysler brand is expanding its influence in the auto industry while capturing hearts as the quintessential American Brand it has always been.
